St. Louis Wine Festival Preview Party

Mark your calendar for the second annual preview party for the St. Louis Wine Festival. Hosted by the Young Friends of the Saint Louis Art Museum and the Flora Conservancy of Forest Park, this special evening will include wines from around the world, hors d'oeuvres from some of St. Louis's finest caterers, live music by Hudson and the Hoo Doo Cats, and more!

Dancing in the Street and Off The Wall

If you want to kick up your heels the place to be is Grand Center as the “Dancing in the Street and Off The Wall” Festival opens the District’s season. Headlining the Festival is world-renowned Project Bandaloop who will perform aerial dance and gymnastic feats on the face of the 25-story Continental Life Building with shows at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Festival’s theme is dancing and all forms of dance will be showcased on four stages. More than 50 acts will perform classical ballet, flamenco, West African, Bhartantyan Indian classical, folk, modern, step dancing, belly dancing, tango, jazz, tap, hip-hop and more. Some of the St. Louis dance companies participating are: Afriky Lolo; aTrek Dance Collective; COCA’s Ballet Eclectica; St. Louis Cultural Flamenco Society; Social Dance Society; Dances of India; Slaughter Project; Alexandra Ballet; COCAdance; and MADCO.
The stage at Grand and Lindell will feature live bands and DJs playing music for public dancing in the street. Instructional demonstrations will also provide opportunities for the public to learn ballroom, tango, jazz and swing dancing.
Grand Center’s Galleries and Museums will be open in the afternoon and evening and the EarthWays Green Homes Festival and House Tour will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Food and beverages
Alegria - Latino Art Festival

The Belas Artes Latino Art Festival will foster the general public’s awareness, understanding, and appreciation for Hispanic culture during the National Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Clown Docs at St. Louis Children’s Hospital are five professionally trained clowns who use humor to distract patients from their hospital experience and to relieve stress among patients, family members and staff. This innovative therapy program, which has been part of Child Life Services since 1998, uses a pair of clowns to visit the hematology/oncology clinic, the neurology rehabilitation floor and all inpatient floors during two, 4-hour shifts each week. In 2003 alone, the Clown Docs made more than 5,000 visits to children in the hospital! This program also exposes medical students at Washington University School of Medicine to the benefits of humor as a communication tool through a class called The Medicine of Laughter.

Join us on the fourth Friday of every month for free music in the Art Museum's galleries. On Friday, October 26, the Museum welcomes the Mosby Trio, a St. Louis-based fusion ensemble with a Classical North Indian influence. The tour will start at noon on Saturday, at the Gambit Inn in Vienna, IL. From the Gambit Inn the bus will first take you to the Bella Terra Winery for lunch. Upon leaving there you will then be taken to the Shawnee Winery for more wine sampling. From there you can relax and enjoy the scenery as you are taken to Hogg Hollow Winery, just a few short miles away from the Ohio River and the Kentucky grasslands. The day will conclude with a ride to the Cache River Basin Vineyard & Winery for dinner. The evening then ends with a full belly as we take you back to the Gambit Inn to retire for the night. Volunteers will sort usable can and dry goods donated for distribution to area food pantries. Project involves packing an cleaning such items.
The Food Bank provides food and personal items to over 650 local food pantries, soup kitchens and emergency shelters.
